Adelabu: 150MW Electricity Surge Set for National Grid Pre-Year End
The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has announced that 150 megawatts (MW) of electricity will be added to Nigeria’s national grid before the end of 2024.
This development is part of the Presidential Power Initiative (PPI), which has reached 80% completion of its pilot phase.
The initiative involves the importation, installation, and commissioning of 10 power transformers and 10 mobile substations, most of which are already operational.
The upgrade aims to enhance the grid’s stability, which has been a significant issue due to aging infrastructure.
The PPI has also contributed to increasing Nigeria’s transmission capacity by an estimated 750 MW, providing some stability in the power supply despite ongoing challenges like frequent grid collapses.
