Seventeen Killed in Lusikisiki Shooting Spree
Seventeen people, including 15 women, were k!lled in two mass shootings on the same street in Lusikisiki, a rural town in South Africa’s Eastern Cape province, on the night of September 27, 2024.
The shootings took place at two homes close to each other, and the victims were reportedly attending family gatherings. Four other people, including a 2-month-old baby, survived, with one person in critical condition.
South African police have launched a manhunt to find the perpetrators, and authorities have not yet revealed the motive behind the k!llings.
The country continues to grapple with high homicide rates, exacerbated by the prevalence of illegal firearms. This tragic incident is part of a growing trend of mass shootings in South Africa, where gun violence remains a significant issue​
