Finidi George recently revealed the challenges that contributed to his short and unsuccessful stint as the head coach of Nigeria’s Super Eagles.
He cited two key reasons for the team’s poor performance during the 2026 World Cup qualifiers: the players’ lack of fitness and commitment.
Many players arrived at the training camp late, coming directly from vacations, which negatively impacted their readiness for the critical matches. Finidi had hoped to start the camp earlier, but the Football Association (FA) delayed the opening, causing further setbacks.
