Police Crack Down on Suspected Vandalizers of Bayelsa Power Towers
Police have arrested 14 suspects in connection with the vandalization of 132KV transmission towers, which have caused prolonged blackouts in Rivers and Bayelsa States.
These individuals had been on the police’s wanted list for several months and were detained following a petition by the Bayelsa State government.
The arrests occurred after intelligence reports led operatives to the suspects, who were found with various stolen electrical materials, including cables and poles.
The vandalism had left much of Bayelsa without power for over two months, severely impacting residents and businesses in the area.
Authorities have commended the efforts of law enforcement and have called on the public to remain vigilant in safeguarding public infrastructure and cooperate with law enforcement to maintain security in the region.
