Rivers State Faces Oil Production Threats Amid Violence
Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has issued a strong warning regarding the impact of continued attacks and unrest on the state’s oil production.
Following recent violent incidents, including the burning of local government secretariats, Fubara stressed that political violence could significantly harm the state’s stability and lead to a decline in oil output.
He emphasized that the ongoing oil theft and pipeline vandalism already pose severe threats to Nigeria’s economy, and any further disruptions could worsen the situation.
Fubara called for collective efforts to curb oil theft and ensure pipeline security, noting that increased oil production is essential for generating the revenue needed to fund critical development projects in Rivers State.
He assured residents that the state government is committed to identifying and prosecuting those responsible for the recent violence and urged the public to remain calm during the investigations.
