Lagos State Government Condemns Army Assault on Environmental Officers
On October 8, 2024, Nigerian Army officers allegedly attacked personnel from the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC), also known as KAI, while they were carrying out their duties in Yaba, Lagos.
The soldiers, reportedly acting under the orders of Major Adebiyi and Captain Gowon, assaulted the KAI officers, leaving one officer with a head injury.
The incident led to chaos in the area until the intervention of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General T. Lagbaja, and the Director of Chaplain Services, Lt. Col. Ogbonyomi, helped restore order.
The Lagos State Government strongly condemned the unprovoked attack, emphasizing that military personnel must adhere to civil authority within their jurisdictions.
This incident has raised concerns about military conduct and the safety of officers performing their lawful duties.
