
Examination of Soldier’s Role in Lagos Traffic Violation Incident
The Nigerian Army has arrested a soldier involved in the killing of a police officer, Inspector Saka Ganiyu, in Lagos.
The incident occurred following a confrontation over a traffic violation at the Volks Bus Stop in the Ojo area on October 9, 2024.
The soldier, who was not in uniform, called for reinforcements after an altercation with police officers attempting to enforce traffic rules.
The reinforcements from the Ojo Cantonment attacked the policemen, leading to Inspector Ganiyu being fatally injured.
He was rushed to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital but later succumbed to his injuries.
The Nigerian Army has confirmed the arrest of the soldier responsible and has handed him over to the Military Police for further investigation and disciplinary action.
The army expressed regret over the incident and assured the public that a thorough investigation would be conducted to ensure justice is served.
