Libyan Football Federation President Quits After Airport Controversy
The President of the Libyan Football Federation (LFF), Abdelhakim Al-Shalmani, has resigned following the controversy surrounding the Super Eagles’ ordeal at Al Abaq Airport.
This resignation came during a regular meeting of the Federation’s General Assembly.
The Super Eagles were stranded at the airport for over 13 hours, leading to Nigeria’s withdrawal from an Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Libya.
The situation caused diplomatic tension, and Al-Shalmani’s resignation is seen as part of the fallout from the incident.
