Nigeria’s AFCON Withdrawal: Libya Threatens Legal Consequences
The Libyan Football Federation (LFF) has threatened legal action against Nigeria after the Super Eagles withdrew from their scheduled 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier due to safety concerns.
The Nigerian team faced a difficult situation at Al Abaq Airport in Libya, where they were stranded for over 13 hours without basic necessities such as food or water, prompting their withdrawal from the match.
In response, the LFF criticized Nigeria for the withdrawal and accused the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) of not cooperating in organizing the match.
Libya expressed disappointment over the disruption, stating that they will pursue all legal options to protect the interests of their national team and ensure accountability in the process.
