Super Eagles Withdraw: CAF Removes Nigeria-Libya Match from AFCON

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially delisted the second leg match between Nigeria and Libya from the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

This decision comes after the Super Eagles were stranded at Al Abaq Airport in Libya for over 13 hours, leading to Nigeria’s withdrawal from the game.

The Nigerian team cited safety concerns and the lack of basic amenities during their ordeal as the main reasons for pulling out of the match.

CAF is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the airport incident, and the cancellation of the match has generated diplomatic and sporting tensions between the two countries.

The Libyan Football Federation had earlier threatened legal action against Nigeria, accusing them of failing to cooperate in the organization of the match.
