Convict Re-arrested After Maiduguri Flood Escape
The Borno State Police Command has re-arrested a convict who escaped during the September 2024 floods in Maiduguri.
The convict, Kyari Kur (also known as Henry), had been serving a sentence for criminal conspiracy and theft at the Medium Security Custodial Centre.
He escaped after the facility’s perimeter fence collapsed due to severe flooding. Acting on a tip-off, police apprehended Kur in Gubio town on October 10, 2024.
He has been profiled and will be handed back to the Nigeria Correctional Service for further legal action.
