Critical Issues vs. Social Media: Aisha Yesufu’s Take on Nigeria’s Leadership
Aisha Yesufu recently expressed her frustration over the current focus of Nigeria’s National Assembly on a case involving social media influencer VeryDarkMan (VDM) and crossdresser Bobrisky, instead of addressing critical issues affecting the country.
According to her, the country is “dying before our eyes,” yet the lawmakers seem more concerned with investigating social media dramas rather than tackling significant national problems like governance, poverty, and insecurity.
The issue at hand stems from a public hearing where VDM and Bobrisky were summoned to discuss allegations of corruption involving the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Nigerian Correctional Services.
This spectacle has drawn widespread criticism, as many, including Yesufu, feel that the National Assembly’s priorities are misplaced given the pressing challenges the country faces.
