A man named Saviour Robert, also known as Timberland, has been remanded by a Magistrate Court in Rivers State over his alleged involvement in the attempted murder of Ogoni activist, Chief Gani Topba.
The incident occurred in March 2023, when Topba was ambushed, shot multiple times, and left for dead while returning from his village in Khana Local Government Area.
Passersby found and rushed him to the hospital, saving his life.
Robert is the third person to be arrested in connection with the attack. The charges against him include attempted murder and cultism.
The case has been adjourned to May 2024 as the court awaits advice from the Department of Public Prosecution.
