The Enugu State Police Command is investigating the tragic death of popular musician Okezie Chikezie Mba, known as “Igbo-Jah,” who was allegedly shot by a police inspector.
The incident occurred on October 25, 2024, at the Anti-Cultism Tactical Squad’s headquarters in Enugu.
According to reports, the inspector, for reasons not yet clarified, discharged his weapon as Mba was leaving the police premises after a visit.
The musician was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
In response, Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah has ordered a thorough investigation to ensure justice for Mba and his family.
The police inspector involved has been detained, and authorities assure that disciplinary action will follow based on the investigation’s findings.
The Enugu Police Commissioner has expressed condolences to Mba’s family and the community, underscoring the commitment to accountability within the force.
