Zariagi Airport Approval: Boosting Kogi’s Economy and Connectivity
The Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development in Nigeria has granted approval for Kogi State to construct an international airport in Zariagi.
Announced on October 25, 2024, this project is a major initiative by Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s administration, aiming to create a transportation hub that will serve Kogi and ten neighboring states.
Additionally, the airport is expected to ease traffic on the Lokoja-Abuja route and relieve congestion at Abuja’s Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.
Beyond passenger services, the Zariagi airport will also feature cargo handling facilities, bolstering Kogi’s economy by creating jobs and enhancing its connectivity.
This project is seen as a strategic move to position Kogi as an aviation hub due to its central location within Nigeria.
