Rivers Police Scandal: Female Officers Arrested for Extortion
An extortion scandal involving three female officers from the Rivers State Police Command has emerged, leading to significant consequences for the individuals involved.
The officers, identified as Assistant Superintendents of Police Doubara Edonyabo and Talent Mungo, along with Inspector Michael Odey, were arrested for allegedly extorting approximately $3,000 (around ₦4.2 million) from two travelers in December 2023.
Inspector Odey has been dismissed following an orderly room trial, while the other two officers are awaiting dismissal pending review by the Inspector General of Police, due to their ranks.
All three officers remain in custody as investigations into their activities continue, including potential involvement in two additional similar cases.
The Rivers State Police Command has emphasized its commitment to transparency and accountability, urging the public to report any misconduct by law enforcement personnel​
