See the Photos: Acting COAS Takes the Helm
Major General Olufemi Oluyede has officially assumed his role as Acting Chief of Army Staff (COAS) in Nigeria.
The handover ceremony took place on November 1, 2024, at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja. Oluyede’s appointment is in an acting capacity while the current COAS, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, is on medical leave.
The event, attended by high-ranking officials including Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Musa, marked Oluyede’s transition to the position.
Prior to this, Oluyede served as the Commander of the Infantry Corps in Kaduna. Photos from the ceremony, shared by DefenceInfoNG on social media, show Oluyede formally taking charge, reflecting his new role in ensuring the continuity of army operations.
