How Kano Managed N63bn of Debt from Ganduje’s Administration
The Kano State government has disclosed that it has already serviced over N63 billion of the debt inherited from the previous administration of former Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
This includes debts related to various domestic and foreign loans, some of which date back to the early 1990s.
Notably, the government clarified that there were no new loans taken since Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf assumed office in 2023.
In addition to addressing concerns about foreign loans, the state government emphasized its commitment to reducing the state’s debt burden, reducing its overall liability to N127.8 billion.
This move has been seen as part of the administration’s broader goal to maintain financial transparency and fiscal responsibility.
