Cracking Down on Romance Scams: Arrests Made in Bangkok Involving Nigerian and Thai Suspects
Two Nigerian men and four Thai nationals were arrested in Bangkok for their involvement in romance scams.
The suspects reportedly created fake profiles on social media to lure victims, convincing them to transfer money under false pretenses such as shipping fees or medical expenses.
The victims were primarily Thai women, and the scam had been ongoing for several years.
During the arrest, authorities seized evidence including cash, electronic devices, and other valuables.
The suspects are also accused of using multiple bank accounts to launder the funds obtained through their fraudulent activities.
Additionally, two of the Nigerian suspects were found to have overstayed their visas by several years.
