MC Oluomo Removed as NURTW President by Appeal Court Ruling
The Court of Appeal has dismissed the appeal challenging Tajudeen Baruwa’s position as the legitimate president of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), effectively confirming his leadership.
This ruling, issued on November 8, 2024, affirmed the earlier decision of the National Industrial Court, which had dissolved a caretaker committee set up by a faction dissatisfied with Baruwa’s election in 2023.
Despite this, Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, was inaugurated by a faction of the union as the national president, an act that has been strongly rejected by Baruwa’s camp.
They claim this move disregards the court’s judgment, maintaining that Baruwa remains the only legally recognized leader of the union.
