Major Drug Trafficking Network Busted: NDLEA Intercepts Drugs in Food Items
The NDLEA recently intercepted large quantities of hard drugs cleverly concealed in food items and other everyday materials at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos, Abuja hotels, and other locations.
Among the seizures were 36 parcels of high-grade cannabis hidden in Nestle Cerelac baby food tins, weighing 18.5 kg, which were being exported to the UK.
The agency also intercepted several shipments of opioids like tramadol, morphine, and promethazine disguised in clothing and household items destined for the U.S. and UK.
Additionally, in separate operations, methamphetamine hidden in food packaging was blocked from being sent to New Zealand.
The NDLEA also arrested suspects linked to these drug networks during follow-up investigations in Lagos and Ibadan.
