21-Year Sentence for Oil and Gas Leader: Lagos Court’s Verdict on N43.5m Fraud
A Lagos court has sentenced Fatuyi Yemi Philips, the chairman of the Natural Oil and Gas Suppliers Association of Nigeria (NOGASA), to 21 years in prison for fraud involving ₦43.5 million.
Philips and his company, Oceanview Oil and Gas Limited, were accused of defrauding WAPCIL Nigeria Limited by falsely claiming they would sell $98,870, a representation proven to be false.
The case was prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), and the court found him guilty of the charges of obtaining money under false pretenses and theft.
