Exploring Nigeria’s Rise to 7th Place for Students in America
Nigeria has achieved a significant milestone by ranking 7th globally for the number of international students in the United States, according to the 2023 Open Doors Report on International Education Exchange.
This marks a leap from its previous 10th position, with 17,640 Nigerian students enrolled in the 2022/2023 academic year.
The increase underscores Nigeria’s growing presence in U.S. higher education, surpassing countries like Japan, Brazil, and Saudi Arabia. Notably, 55% of Nigerian students pursue graduate-level studies, highlighting the nation’s emphasis on advanced education​.
