Modebelu Returns as UNIZIK Registrar: Key Impacts on Administrative Operations

The Federal Government of Nigeria recently nullified the appointments of Professor Bernard Odoh as the substantive Vice Chancellor and Mrs. Rosemary Nwokike as the Registrar of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK).

This decision came after it was revealed that the university’s governing council made the appointments on October 29, 2024, without proper consultations and in violation of agreed protocols.

The Ministry of Education had previously emphasized that no appointments should be made without reconciliation among all stakeholders, including internal council members and ministry representatives.

Following this, all such appointments were declared void, and further appointments were put on hold until the new Minister of Education assumes office.
