Manhunt Underway: Ogun Authorities Search for Woman After Baby Left at Clinic
The Ogun State Police Command has launched a manhunt for a woman who abandoned her newborn baby outside a private clinic in Oke-Ilewo, Abeokuta.
The infant, wrapped in a cloth, was discovered in the early hours of Sunday, November 24, 2024, by residents who alerted the clinic staff.
According to reports, the baby was left with no identifying documents or note, and the mother’s identity remains unknown.
The child is currently in the care of the clinic while the police continue their investigation.
Authorities have appealed to the public for any information that could help trace the woman.
Abandonment of infants remains a concerning issue in Nigeria, often linked to factors like stigma, poverty, or lack of support for young mothers.
Police have emphasized the availability of legal channels, such as adoption services, for those unable to care for their children.
