Eguavoen Backed by Sunday Oliseh to Secure Nigeria’s 2026 World Cup Spot
Sunday Oliseh, a former coach and captain of Nigeria’s Super Eagles, has expressed strong support for Augustine Eguavoen and the team’s bid to secure qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
He emphasized that failure to qualify would be disastrous, as Nigeria risks missing consecutive tournaments following their absence in 2022.
Currently, the Super Eagles are struggling in the qualifiers, sitting second-to-last in Group C without a single win in four matches, having only three points from three draws and a loss.
Oliseh highlighted the expanded opportunity for African teams, with 10 slots available in the upcoming World Cup, and urged the team to improve their performance ahead of their next game against Rwanda in March 2025.
