Vandalism Costs: FG to Spend N8.8bn on Transmission Tower Repairs
The Federal Government has revealed that it spent N8.8 billion to repair 128 power transmission towers damaged by vandals in 2024.
These repairs were necessary to restore electricity supply and maintain the national grid’s functionality.
Vandalism of power infrastructure has significantly disrupted power distribution, with the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) working to address this issue, despite security challenges.
The government continues to face substantial financial costs due to these acts of sabotage.
