Ukraine Under Siege: Russia’s Overnight Attack Linked to US Missile Strikes
Russian President Vladimir Putin has described recent overnight attacks on Ukraine as a direct response to Kyiv’s use of U.S.-supplied long-range missiles against Russian targets.
These missile systems, provided by the United States, have been used by Ukraine in recent strikes, intensifying the conflict.
Putin stated that Moscow’s retaliation involved targeting Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, leading to significant disruptions, including power outages affecting over a million Ukrainians.
He also emphasized Russia’s capability to escalate further with advanced missile systems, including hypersonic missiles, and warned of possible strikes on “decision-making centers” in Kyiv.
Ukrainian officials have condemned these attacks as a “vile escalation” and accused Russia of using cluster munitions during its operations.
