Why the EFCC Won’t Reveal the Owner of 753 Forfeited Abuja Duplexes
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has explained why it did not reveal the owner of the 753 duplexes forfeited in Abuja. According to the EFCC, the reason for withholding the identity is due to ongoing investigations.
The agency emphasized that the process of asset forfeiture and legal proceedings requires a thorough investigation, and public disclosure could potentially hinder the legal process.
The EFCC further stated that the forfeiture was part of efforts to combat corruption and recover ill-gotten wealth, and it remains committed to transparency once all legal processes are completed.
The duplexes were seized under the suspicion of being proceeds from illegal activities, and the commission is continuing its probe to identify those behind the illicit gains.
