Sowore Alleges Emefiele’s Link to 753 Forfeited Duplex Units by EFCC
Activist Omoyele Sowore has alleged that 753 duplex units recently forfeited to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) are linked to former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor Godwin Emefiele.
This development follows earlier court rulings ordering the final forfeiture of various assets attributed to Emefiele, including cash, shares, and high-value properties, on suspicions of being acquired with proceeds of unlawful activities.
The Federal High Court had already issued final forfeiture orders for multiple properties and $2.045 million, citing Emefiele’s failure to provide evidence connecting these assets to legitimate earnings.
These properties, located in premium areas like Ikoyi, Lekki, and Delta State, highlight the scale of the alleged corruption.
The EFCC has stated that these assets will be repurposed to benefit the government, underscoring its commitment to curbing corruption.
However, Sowore’s claims about the 753 duplex units bring a new dimension to the ongoing scrutiny of Emefiele’s financial dealings.
