Alleged £1.87m Fraud Leads to Pastor Tobi Adegboyega’s Deportation Battle
Pastor Tobi Adegboyega, the Nigerian-born founder of SPAC Nation in the UK, recently lost a legal battle following the closure of his church by UK authorities.
SPAC Nation, incorporated as a charity in 2012, was shut down due to allegations of financial mismanagement involving £1.87 million, lack of transparency, and failure to comply with statutory requirements.
These issues included inconsistent financial records and unverifiable claims regarding donations and expenses.
The church, which had initially gained praise for its work with vulnerable groups and former offenders, faced significant media scrutiny in 2019 after former members accused its leadership of financial exploitation.
This led to investigations by the UK’s Insolvency Service and Charity Commission, culminating in a High Court order to wind up the church in 2022 in the public interest.
The court’s findings revealed suspicious accounting practices and significant operational irregularities.
