Bashar al-Assad’s Resignation: A New Chapter for Syria’s Struggle
Bashar al-Assad, the ousted President of Syria, has been replaced by a transitional government led by Mohammed al-Bashir.
Reports suggest that al-Bashir, previously aligned with the rebel faction Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), has taken over amid the surprise offensive that saw opposition forces, backed by Turkey, capture Damascus.
This marks a significant shift in Syria’s power structure, following intense military sweeps and changes on the ground.
Syrian rebels have also declared amnesty for regime soldiers, signaling further steps toward reconciliation and the rebuilding of war-torn region.
