Urgent Alert from NITDA: Malware Targeting Nigerian Banking Information
The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has issued an alert to Nigerians about a new form of malware that is targeting Facebook users.
The malware, named ‘Ov3r Stealer,’ spreads through deceptive job advertisements and malicious links.
Once clicked, it steals sensitive information such as passwords, banking details, and other personal data, which is then transmitted to cybercriminals.
The malware can even be used as a dropper for more harmful programs like ransomware.
To protect themselves, NITDA advises Facebook users to avoid clicking on suspicious ads, regularly update their antivirus software, and stay alert to emerging cyber threats.
The agency has also warned that the malware is part of a growing trend of financially targeted attacks in the digital landscape, which require heightened vigilance.
