Peter Obi Engages with Afe Babalola: What It Means for Farotimi’s Case
Peter Obi recently visited Afe Babalola, the renowned legal scholar and founder of Afe Babalola University, to discuss the ongoing defamation case involving activist and lawyer Dele Farotimi.
Farotimi is accused of defaming Babalola in his book, where he alleged that Babalola influenced Supreme Court decisions.
These claims have led to a legal battle, with Farotimi facing charges in Ekiti courts and recently being granted bail of ₦50 million.
During the visit, Obi appealed for forgiveness on Farotimi’s behalf, reportedly emphasizing the need for reconciliation.
Babalola, however, indicated that Farotimi’s attitude—specifically his willingness to apologize or provide evidence for his claims—would influence the outcome of the matter.
Obi also visited Farotimi at the correctional facility where he is being held to discuss the way forward.
