Impact of Lagos Health Workers’ Three-Day Strike on Local Healthcare
Health workers in Lagos State have commenced a three-day warning strike to protest the non-implementation of the Consolidated Health Salary Structure (CONHESS) adjustments.
The unions involved include nurses, midwives, allied health professionals, and others under the Joint Health Sector Unions (JOHESU).
Union representatives stated that despite multiple meetings with the Lagos State Government, no concrete timeline for implementing the salary adjustments was provided.
This action comes after the government approved salary adjustments for doctors in October 2024, which unions view as divisive and neglectful of other health professionals’ contributions.
The strike affects all state-owned health facilities, including the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), general hospitals, and primary health centers.
