Akpabio Announces 2024 Budget Implementation Extension: What You Need to Know
Senate President Godswill Akpabio has announced that the implementation of Nigeria’s 2024 national budget will be extended until June 30, 2025. This extension aims to ensure the continued execution of key government projects and initiatives.
The decision follows the National Assembly’s assessment of the 2024 budget’s performance, which reported a 50% execution rate for capital expenditure and 48% for recurrent expenditure.
Given these positive outcomes, the extension is intended to build upon the momentum achieved thus far.
In his address, Akpabio emphasized the importance of timely responses from ministers and heads of ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) to legislative oversight requests.
He warned against neglecting such duties and underscored the National Assembly’s commitment to upholding constitutional responsibilities.
This extension reflects the National Assembly’s dedication to supporting the government’s fiscal policies and ensuring the effective implementation of the national budget.
