Femi Adesina Reveals the Truth Behind Buhari’s Fuel Subsidy Decision
Femi Adesina, former Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, has explained that Buhari’s decision not to remove the fuel subsidy during his tenure was driven by his concern for ordinary Nigerians.
In a tribute marking Buhari’s 82nd birthday, Adesina described him as a “friend of the poor,” noting that he “still draws the people like magnets even in retirement.”
He emphasized that despite recognizing the financial burden of the subsidy, Buhari chose not to remove it to avoid further hardship for the masses.
Adesina further stated that the government was aware of the need to address the “money-guzzling monster” of the subsidy but refrained from action to prevent additional impoverishment of the people.
He highlighted Buhari’s enduring popularity among the masses, attributing it to his genuine concern for their well-being.
