Lagos Cosmetics Industry Shaken as NAFDAC Shuts Down Major Player

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has shut down an illegal cosmetics factory at Benue Plaza, Trade Fair Complex, Lagos State.

During the operation, NAFDAC officers discovered unregistered chemicals, packaging materials, and expired products being revalidated for sale.

Over 1,200 cartons of counterfeit cosmetic products were seized, with an estimated street value of approximately ₦50 million.

The confiscated items included mini-mixing containers, unlabelled chemicals, batch coding materials, and thinners.

NAFDAC urges the public to exercise caution when purchasing cosmetic products and to report any suspicious activities to the nearest NAFDAC office.
