Shocking: OOU Student Caught in Alleged Phone Theft Scandal
A student from Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU) in Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State, was recently arrested while allegedly attempting to sell stolen mobile phones.
The arrest was made following reports of increased thefts targeting students within the university community.
Law enforcement authorities apprehended the suspect during a sting operation at a popular electronics market where he was reportedly trying to sell multiple high-end smartphones at suspiciously low prices.
Upon interrogation, the student confessed to stealing the phones from fellow students’ hostels and lecture halls.
This incident is part of a broader pattern of criminal activities involving university students in the region. In a related case, a final-year OOU student was arrested alongside five others for kidnapping.
Additionally, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrested 24 OOU students for cybercrime activities in Ogun State.
