Key Highlights of President Tinubu’s N47.9 Trillion 2025 Budget Proposal
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has presented a proposed 2025 budget of ₦47.96 trillion to the National Assembly, titled the “Budget of Restoration: Securing Peace, Building Prosperity.”
Key Allocations:
- Defence and Security: ₦4.91 trillion
- Infrastructure: ₦4.06 trillion
- Health: ₦2.4 trillion
- Education: ₦3.5 trillion
Economic Projections:
- Revenue Target: ₦34.8 trillion
- Expenditure: ₦47.90 trillion
- Debt Servicing: ₦15.81 trillion
- Budget Deficit: ₦13.0 trillion (3.89% of GDP)
- Inflation Rate: Projected to decrease from 34.6% to 15% in 2025
- Exchange Rate: Expected improvement from ₦1,700 to ₦1,500 per US dollar
The budget is based on an oil price benchmark of $75 per barrel, with a projected oil production of 2.06 million barrels per day, and an exchange rate of ₦1,400 to a dollar.
President Tinubu emphasized that the 2025 budget aims to restore macroeconomic stability, enhance the business environment, foster inclusive growth, reduce poverty, and promote human capital development.
He acknowledged the resilience of Nigerians amid economic challenges and reiterated his commitment to economic renewal and transformation.
