Marcus Rashford’s Future at Man United: Ruben Amorim Opens New Possibilities
Manchester United’s head coach, Ruben Amorim, has addressed Marcus Rashford’s recent declaration of seeking a “new challenge” after two decades at Old Trafford.
Despite Rashford’s statements, Amorim is keen for the forward to remain with the club, emphasizing the significant role he plays in the team’s success.
In a press conference ahead of the Carabao Cup quarter-final against Tottenham, Amorim stated: “We have here a new challenge… for me, it’s the biggest challenge in football because we are in a difficult situation and I already said this is one of the biggest clubs in the world.
This is a really new challenge and the biggest one. I really hope all my players are ready for this new challenge.”
Amorim also mentioned that he had not yet spoken directly with Rashford following the interview but plans to focus on maximizing the player’s contributions:
“I spoke with a lot of players individually and during training, what I want is to take the best stuff of Marcus Rashford as the player so I don’t talk about the future, I just talk about the present, I want the best of each one of them and that is the key point for me, I just want to win and to help the team be better.”
Rashford, 27, was notably absent from the squad during United’s recent 2-1 victory over Manchester City, a decision Amorim attributed to illness.
The forward’s form has been under scrutiny, with only seven goals in 24 appearances this season. Despite this, Amorim remains optimistic about Rashford’s potential contributions, stating:
“We are better with Marcus Rashford, that is simple and we will try different things to push Marcus to the best levels he showed in the past.”
