Interior Minister Tunji-Ojo Explains Tinubu Govt’s Independent Strategy
Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo has emphasized that President Bola Tinubu’s administration is focused on the welfare of Nigerians and is not in competition with any previous government.
During an interview on Arise Television’s Morning Show, Tunji-Ojo addressed criticisms from officials of the previous administration, highlighting the current government’s achievements in enhancing national security and immigration services.
He noted that upon taking office, the administration initiated several projects from the ground up, including the establishment of a data center, a command and control center, and a solar farm.
Tunji-Ojo stated, “When we came on board, it was very clear that a lot of these things—the data center, the command and control center, the solar farm we had at that time—were started from the foundation.”
He also mentioned the completion of the ECOWAS passport center, which was inherited in an incomplete state.
The minister highlighted the significance of the newly built data center, describing it as a substantial achievement for the administration.
He emphasized that the government’s primary concern is the well-being of Nigerians, stating, “This particular government is not in competition with anybody. What’s most important is the welfare and well-being of Nigerians.”
Tunji-Ojo also underscored the implementation of the Advanced Passenger Information system, aligning with UN Security Council resolutions, and the development of a command and control center overseeing all regular migration points across Nigeria.
He concluded by urging that the focus should remain on the benefits to Nigerians, rather than on attributing credit, stating, “We should just let Nigeria be the winner in it.”
