Everton’s Transformation: Insights into the Friedkin Group Takeover
Everton Football Club has officially transitioned to new ownership, with the US-based Friedkin Group completing its acquisition of a 98.8% stake in the club.
This transaction concludes Farhad Moshiri’s eight-year tenure as owner, during which he invested significantly but faced challenges, including financial instability and frequent managerial changes.
The Friedkin Group, led by billionaire Dan Friedkin, also owns the Italian Serie A club AS Roma.
The acquisition, valued between £250 million and £300 million, aims to bring financial stability to Everton.
The new owners have committed to strategic investments in the first-team squad, youth academy, and the completion of Everton’s new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock, set to open ahead of the 2025-26 season.
Dan Friedkin will assume the role of chairman, with Marc Watts serving as executive chairman.
Their immediate focus is on stabilizing the club and enhancing on-field performance, as Everton currently sits 16th in the Premier League.
