Major Bust in Kaduna: Police Arrest Notorious Bandit and Car Thieves
The Kaduna State Police Command has apprehended a notorious bandit and three suspected car snatchers in separate operations, enhancing security efforts in the region.
Arrest of Notorious Bandit:
On December 16, 2024, police operatives from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, acting on credible intelligence, arrested 22-year-old Aliyu Umar in Zaria.
Umar was found in possession of eight AK-47 magazines and 50 rounds of live ammunition. During preliminary investigations, he confessed to being part of a notorious bandit gang operating in Zamfara State and revealed that he had traveled to Barikin Ladi, Jos, to collect the weapons from an accomplice whose identity is yet to be ascertained.
Arrest of Suspected Car Snatchers:
In a separate operation on the same day, police operatives, posing as prospective buyers, arrested three individuals attempting to sell a vehicle under suspicious circumstances. The suspects are:
- Kefas Danladi, 24, from Gora Gan, Zangon Kataf, Kaduna
- Usman Salisu, 23, from Unguwan Muazu, Kaduna
- Yusuf Danladi, 22, from Kauru, Kaduna
During preliminary investigations, the suspects confessed to stealing a Toyota Avalon from a resident’s house in Naval Quarters, Asokoro, Abuja. The stolen vehicle has been recovered, and the rightful owner has been notified.

The Commissioner of Police in Kaduna State has reiterated the command’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of residents. Further investigations are ongoing, and the suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigations.
