The Shocking Family Drama: Paul Pogba’s Brother’s 3-Year Prison Sentence
Mathias Pogba, brother of French footballer Paul Pogba, has been sentenced by a Paris criminal court to three years in prison, with two years suspended, for his involvement in an extortion and kidnapping scheme targeting his sibling.
He was also fined €20,000.
The court found that Mathias participated in a plot to extort €13 million from Paul Pogba in 2022. The scheme involved several of Pogba’s childhood friends, who, along with Mathias, attempted to coerce the footballer into paying the substantial sum.
Paul Pogba testified that he was kidnapped and held at gunpoint by masked men demanding money. Despite paying €100,000, the conspirators continued their threats.
In addition to Mathias, five other individuals received prison sentences ranging from four to eight years and fines between €20,000 and €40,000. Roushdane K, identified as the mastermind of the plot, received the longest sentence of eight years.
Mathias Pogba’s lawyer has indicated plans to appeal the verdict, asserting that Mathias was manipulated into participating in the scheme.
