Bello el-Rufai Advocates for Budget Reforms: Stop Yearly MDA Vehicle and Spoon Buys
Bello El-Rufai, a member of the House of Representatives and the son of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, has urged Nigeria’s Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to exercise fiscal discipline.
He criticized the recurrent annual expenditures on items like vehicles and spoons, which he deemed unnecessary.
According to him, such practices inflate government spending and undermine efforts to manage public funds effectively.
El-Rufai made this statement during discussions about the 2025 national budget. He emphasized the need for MDAs to prioritize sustainable budgeting practices and eliminate wasteful spending, particularly on non-essential items.
His comments reflect growing concerns over the nation’s fiscal management and the call for greater accountability in public sector expenditures.
