Three Ogun Varsity Students Lose Lives in Fatal Road Crash
Three students from Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU) in Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State, tragically lost their lives in a road accident on Friday, December 20, 2024.
The incident occurred around 3:30 PM along the Ilisan/Ago-Iwoye road. The students were passengers in a commercial Opel Safira vehicle with license plate Lagos AAA-126HE, driven by Adekunle Adebiyi.
According to the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, the driver was speeding when he lost control, causing the vehicle to overturn into the bushes.
A male passenger, whose identity is yet to be confirmed but is believed to be an OOU student, died at the scene. His body has been taken to the General Hospital Ijebu Ode mortuary.
Two female students, Dada Oluwanifesimi, 18, a Mass Communication sophomore, and Miracle Ogo Oluwa Daniel, 19, a junior, were rushed to Love and Care Hospital but unfortunately succumbed to their injuries during treatment.
Two other OOU students sustained injuries and are currently receiving medical care at the OOU Medical Centre on the Mini Campus. The vehicle has been recovered and is being stored safely at the station.
This tragic incident has cast a pall over the university community, with students and faculty mourning the untimely loss of their peers.
