Police Nab Ritualist in Ogun: Disturbing Discovery of Human Head
The Ogun State Police Command has arrested 45-year-old Taiwo Yemitan, a suspected ritualist, found in possession of a fresh human head and dismembered body parts of a female victim in the Lafenwa area of Abeokuta.
Acting on a tip-off from local security outfits, including the Agbekoya and vigilante operatives, police apprehended Yemitan at his residence behind Atinsola Petrol Station, Sanni, Abeokuta, around 1:40 a.m. on Sunday.
During interrogation, Yemitan confessed to luring the deceased, identified as Darasimi, to his residence with the intent to kill her.
He also implicated two accomplices: his brother, Kehinde Yemitan, and an individual known as Kazeem. Their plan was to sell the victim’s head and other body parts.
The dismembered body has been transported to the General Hospital, Ijaye, Abeokuta, for a post-mortem examination. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the accomplices and locate the victim’s relatives.
The suspect will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation.
This incident highlights a disturbing trend in the region. Earlier in the year, another suspect, Azeez Adebayo, confessed to killing three women whom he and his accomplices lured through hookup arrangements.
The police have issued warnings to young women to avoid engaging in such activities, emphasizing the risks involved.
