Nigerian Government Facilitates Return of 392 Citizens from Niger
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has confirmed the repatriation of 392 Nigerians from the Niger Republic.
The returnees, comprising 176 adult males, 122 adult females, and 94 children (including 78 boys and 16 girls), arrived at approximately 3:05 PM on December 22, 2024.
This operation is part of ongoing efforts to assist Nigerians stranded in neighboring countries. In November, NEMA’s Lagos Territorial Office, in collaboration with partners, received 148 returnees from the Niger Republic.
The repatriation process involves profiling and registering the returnees to ensure proper documentation and access to necessary support.
Key agencies participating in these operations include the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants, and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI), the Nigerian Immigration Services, and the Nigerian Red Cross Society.
