Thrilling Escape: Kogi Monarch’s Strategy to Evade Hoodlum Attack
In the early hours of Saturday, December 21, 2024, the Etsu Lokoja, HRH Emmanuel Akamisoko Dauda-Shelika, Nyamkpa IV, narrowly escaped an attack on his palace by suspected hoodlums. The assailants set his vehicle and other properties ablaze.
The monarch recounted that around 1:00 a.m., he was awakened by a loud bang on his door. Upon looking through the window, he saw his car engulfed in flames. Fearing for his life, he exited through the back door and scaled the fence to safety.
Despite efforts by neighbors to extinguish the fire, the vehicle and other belongings were destroyed. The attack led to the indefinite suspension of the “Lokoja ’24 Nupe Cultural Fiesta,” an end-of-year event organized by the Nupe Natives of Lokoja Development Union, which was scheduled for December 21.
The Etsu Lokoja has called on the government and security agencies to investigate the incident and bring the perpetrators to justice. He also urged the Nupe community in Lokoja to remain peaceful and law-abiding, discouraging any form of reprisal attack.
